About Us

Gary Masters first started working in aviation with Fordaire Aviation at Sywell in 1996 helping with the maintenance and general upkeep of many interesting aircrafts, Miles Messenger, Tiger Moths, Austers De Haviland Dragon Rapide, Robin DR400, to name a few, also with the day to day servicing and maintenance of local flying schools Cessna and Piper Aircraft.

In the year 2000, Gary was employed by Flylight Airsports to assist with the new Skyranger Aircraft project and maintain their fleet of school aircraft, working under the supervision of Paul Dewhurst. A great deal of knowledge was gained.

In 2007 Gary decided to take a massive step and leave the security of working at Flylight and start up his own business, and this was the beginning of Airmasters.

Gary had the good fortune of a chance meeting P&M Aviation's Oliver Achurch who required an engineer for the Flight Design CT and CTSW range of aircraft, and soon became the "go to" person for any servicing for any CT issues. Gary and Oliver still work closely today and have become great friends.

Norman Rathbone is a big part of the Airmasters team and history, he has been with us for many years. He has a background in mechanical engineering, a BMAA Inspector, check pilot, with over 2000 flying hours. Norman carries out most of the check flying for us - a great asset to the company.

Simon Cooper is another member of the team, coming from an Automotive background, he has great mechanical and bodywork skills and has recently gained his Flexwing License.

Gary is also a Senior BMAA Inspector, LAA Inspector and holds a CAA A3-7 Authorisation for many CAA permit Aircraft types.
